Schanzlgasse
Graz

The construction project involves the extension and conversion of an existing turn-of-the-century villa. The property forms the edge of an area built with medium density and characterized by villas of varying ages and appearances. It directly faces very densely built zones to the west, south, and southeast, featuring buildings of up to seven stories and a density of 2.0.

The site slopes steeply downward to the east and south toward the street. The external appearance of the existing building has been largely compromised by several previous alterations and additions. The current concept therefore proposes to envelop the existing structure and give it a new exterior appearance. The character of the existing interior spaces is to be preserved in order to retain the partially high-quality finishes and built-in features (spiral staircases, tiled stoves, etc.).
